FIC Courses at other sites

After reading this discussion it seems to me that some people expect the mountain to come to mohammed, the CAA inspect FIC sites on a regular basis and take into account the briefing facilities and aircraft etc., it costs a lot of money to get the approval and tests are normally conducted on site with an FIC examiner in the said club aircraft, there are only 3 examiners in Scotland. The course as we know is 31 hours (including acceptance test) and 125 hours of ground school, there is no way it can be covered correctly in two weeks, it can just about be crammed into 4 weeks in good weather! I would be surprised if any UK FIC instructor would commit to this training away from site as it would be uneconomic from the approved clubs point of view and logistically difficult even if the CAA did give the go ahead. FIC instructors tend to be experienced guys who are in demand and are have no need to tour the country looking for work.
