Although I agree with you that the number of jobless pilots on the market will be sufficient to cover 'new' Alitalia's needs, getting them online in two weeks is impossible (please read one of my earlier posts), let alone two months. Even in ideal circumstances getting, say, 200 externally hired pilots online will take about a year. Taking the present state of affairs between the pilot unions and CAI into account the training and check pilots who have to train any new externally hired people will probably not put in their best efforts. CAI might accept some start-up delays, but they certainly cannot go without pilots for too long.

The pilot unions are playing their last card at the moment, because without pilots the new AZ is not going to fly. CAI will probably send out the job offers in the next week or so, I am interested in how well-coordinated the pilots in AZ are and wonder if they will break ranks.

Let's see what happens...
