Question

But why on Earth?????

The original post was to find an FTO which was approved to conduct the FIC near Inverness.

Fact….The nearest course is at Perth.

The hassle and grief that would be caused by arranging ‘satellite’ approval for a student who wishes to train nearer home, would not make any FTO want to consider the possibility.

As I said earlier, those who instruct the FI course and generally senior instructors or CFI’s. Why on Earth would anyone want to pay their travel accommodation and potential loss of income costs?

The facts of life are that FTO’s are where they are and instructors are based there. Oxford are at Kiddlington, Cabair are at Cranfield etc etc etc. The basic premise is that the student goes where the courses are on offer. To expect anything else is naive.

I’m sorry Mad J but, whilst there may be loopholes, they do not affect those who simply want a simple CPL or FIC. Let’s not complicate life!

BTW, what happened to your ATPL and FI ratings on your profile?
