he wanted to plunge the bambi and flare at the same time
I know what he was trying to do--I fly fires myself for a living. I was merely stating that it is an embarrassment to hook your bucket on a skid--I have yet to do that---he is obviously extremely talented, (I have done many other embarrassing things however). Had he have lifted off with a full bucket of water AND the bucket hooked over the skid, the lateral arm for the weight of the bucket would have been on the skid, therefore putting him out of lateral CG. Hence--because he is so talented--he kept his thumb on the remote release switch allowing the water to drain as he lifted up. He obviously then had to fly back to his helitack unit, or what ever you call your ground crew over there, and pay them copious amounts of alcohol to unhook his bucket fro m the skid so that he could continue his firefighting work. He obviously failed to pay enough people as this embarrassing video of him is now all over the internet.

Maybe I should explain my posts from now on. By the way--was it you?
