The Typhoon was diving on a "high angle strafe" during a training run when it shot past a Hawker Siddeley 125 coming into land at an airport in Humberside, investigators said.
It happened at an altitude of 8,000ft over the Donna Nook bombing range, when the fighter jet was travelling at about 500mph. The aircraft closed to 75 metres or 240ft.
