Why, before the word acquired 'baggage' would it be any more unreasonable to call a person form the area of the Niger Delta 'Nigger', than it would be to call a person from the Taff Valley, 'Taffy'. And why can we call someone from Birmingham a Brumie, someone from Scotland a Scot and someone from Denmark a Dane, but if you call a person from Pakistan a Paki, you'd be probably be prosecuted.
I think Guy Gibson would be totally confused.
