When i was up there (1yr ago) they did shoot 400 of them which was keep hush but still not enough.
This happened after the the Pearl King Air struck one of them on one of the main legs near VR and con't to Darwin.
On landing that Main legs drag linkage was damaged and the leg rotated rearwards from vertical.......put it out of the air for a few months.
They did have another strike on the nose wheel prior to that also.
So thats why they pull out of Tindal at the time.
I had a few near misses all at night,they were all over the taxiways,runway running left ,right and centre when they heard an engine/s.
