Depends on the type of automobile.
Keep in mind that cars manufactured for the US market may have many different engine/polution/suspension components than those available elsewhere, so parts might become a problem...not to mention proper maintenance service.
Better to purchase locally, in my opinion.
I had a Cadillac Eldorado in Saudi for a long time, and FedEx/DHL was my friend for many parts.
The Eldorado was fun to drive however....with an 8.2 litre engine, it passed everything but the gas station....
