As they say "One man's kink is another man's pain"
And no, not the South Island... NZTG = Tauranga... the 1st photo was looking south of Hamilton, the 2nd one was in the vicinity of Tauranga... there were another 3 or 4 like that around....
The Coromandel and Kaimai Ranges are only about 2500'... I hate to think what it would have been like coming off the Southern Alps!
