Your story about the Viscount strikes a chord. Must say I think I prefer the original CAA livery, having seen them arriving new at SAY in 1956/7 (but not VP-YNI, don't know where that came from).

Here's a link to another Brooklands-built aeroplane that regularly graced the same Southern African airfield, sometimes even circuit-bashing, on Thursday afternoons in late 1964. In this photo it's sporting a more striking colour scheme than in those early days, and finds itself at MAN:
