Reminds me of a friend, many moons ago, who took Concorde (on an upgrade) to JFK but actually needed to be at Newark.
He got in the cab and said "How much to Newark?" "80bucks plus tip" was the reply. Well, my friend huffed and puffed in a very English way but as he was in the cab, my friend guessed the driver just gave up and agreed $50. When they arrived, very late and very dark, after an uncomfortable journey with neither speaking to the other, $50 was flung at the driver together with a $10 tip. My friend didn't even wait for a receipt.
It was only the day after that he realised that he appeared to missing one of the two $100 bills he had in his wallet...
