Demise Of Sterling

Very sad news today about Sterling - good luck to all the employees. Fond memories at Luton of the DC-6s and especially the Caravelles. Remember well up to eight Caravelles on the ground at once most parked on the Ponderosa (stand 16 for the younger ones) from different airports in Denmark, Norway and Sweden with the passengers mostly on shopping trips. Then the Boeing 727s took over flying nearly 200 at a time. Very well liked and run airline and started by a Danish pastor (forgotten his name) calling his tour company Tjaeborg. It even started operations in the UK in the 1980s as one of the first direct sell holiday companies before being bought out.
Memories of British Midland -will the name disappear? - my memories go back to the Argonauts flying to Jersey on a regular basis but many more people will have longer memories than me? A particular sad day for European aviation I fear.
