Bye bye GSM
Well the long awaited departure of GSM means another set back for MME but I honestly feel this was something way out of MME's control.
Unfortunately, the economic crisis and GSM ageing fleet meant MME got the squeeze but I feel it was not due to poor loads and yields unlike WW. The routes were well chosen by GSM and it remains to be seen if we get a replacement in the short to medium term.
My bet is that we won't get a knight in shining armour in the same manner as when WW left but airlines will wait until the spring and the economy improves before either FlyBE or Jet2 (possibly move a B737 from NCL) move in offering a 1 aircraft base next summer.
On a positive note, I see bmi have uploaded flights to LHR up to next summer at least!!
