Nimrod Sim 1971
My recollection of the actual Nimrod Mk 1 simulator, which I saw at Kinloss in 1971 was a flight deck on three axis motion, made I think, by GPS of Aylsbury, (subsequently Redifon). It had a model board visual with a servo controlled colour camera. The airfield model was of St Mawgan, and there was also a sea model with one or two the ships in the central area.
There was a seperate aft section for the mission kit, which oddly enough was also on a simple motion system. I think this bit was made by Ferranti.
I think both bits could be linked together for a joint mission.
I can't remember if these sims were analogue or digital, although in that era possibly a bit of both.
