it does seem strange because it isnt near dover or folkstone, ramsgate isnt much of a port anymore and air freight is too expensive for the cheap chinese market, i dont think the proximity of the airport has any bearing on the construction. i think its due to the cheap land and availablity of cheap labour and the fact that with the carrot of jobs in this deprived area, the chinese assume that people will not complain, there is an awful lot wrong with this proposed development,(details available on other web sites), however,re. manston airport, with the five year plan on the table it is clear that Infratil are not about to sell up and move on.
