Charlie, a couple of years ago I had the pleasure to ‘help’ out a town show on ‘Slab Square’ in Nottingham and yes it was as good a time as you’d imagine.
Only down side was the trailer dressed up to be a C130J was not very convincing.
I asked one of the guys who worked for Babcocks (I think) that set up the town shows what had happened to the old Nimrod mock-up; he told me it had been sold off and he was quite disappointed to see it go even though it was a sod to set up and required a very level site (reducing its utility).
He beleved it was an old Comet airframe that had quite a history and that the Queen Mother had become the first member of the royal family to fly in a jet powered aircraft in it.
