My T - I'm not sure, but there's a chance that those leading the service may be despairing as much as you are.

After the case in wg13's link, management of the RAF roundel and 'brand' were handed over by the MoD to the company which does the licensing for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and similar things.Amongst the first thing they did was to force Airfix (and similar firms) to pay for the right to put roundels on the transfers for their kits, which went down really well with modelling fans, AIUI.

It'd be interesting to know whether a 2* is approving these ideas, or whether the first anyone in the air force knows about the latest cunning marketing plan by these branding experts is when they find the latest 'You're not going to believe this....' thread on here.

Whenever glowing approval of this wheeze is required in the PR puff, it seems that some reluctant sqn ldr is wheeled out to say how wonderful the latest idea is, while those higher up the rank chain stay very, very quiet indeed.

Perhaps we need CGS to do another of his little interviews, in which, in the spirit of jointery, he makes some harsh comments about how ridiculous the RAF branding opportunities are becoming, thus frightening the Sec of State into forcing the marketing bods to calm down a bit?
