Thumbs up Award for Stornoway Crew

Well done................

Awards recognition for St Kilda rescue The Stornoway coastguard helicopter crew that undertook the dramatic rescue of 14 fishermen in extreme weather conditions has been formally recognised for its bravery.

The crew was presented with the ‘unsungheroes' award at the Sunday Mail Great Scot Awards in Glasgow.
Liz Forsyth, Larry Slater and Phil Warrington attended the ceremony to receive the accolade from Taggart star Colin McCredie.
They rescued the Spanish crew of the vessel Spinningdale after it ran aground under cliffs at St Kilda in February 2008 inhigh winds gusting up to 70 knots.
CHC's UK search and rescue business unit leader Ian McLuskie said:"This is well-deserved recognition for the crew after a success rescue that required great professionalism and courage.
"It is also, of course, acknowledgment of the work routinely undertaken not only by the coastguard search and rescue crews, but by the wider UK search and rescue community."
