Having spent some time in an AFCO lately, I can offer the following advice. As long as you have been symptom free for 4 years or more AND have not been prescribed any medication for it, including repeat prescriptions, then the RAF will consider you. You would also have to complete a MSL and because you have a history of asthma, a supplement.
If in doubt pop into an AFCO and have a chat with them.
