Isn't it usually easier to get a new job from a position of employment (apart from the logistical difficulties of arranging the interviews etc) rather than from a pool of potential competing candidates?
So take the shilling, and if you don't like the terms - bale out (been there done that . . . I opted for leaving after surviving the cull).
