It depends! If Win2000 is working OK, why change?
How old is the computer, and what spec?
You wouldn't want to reformat an old hard drive, install XP, and have the drive die of old age within a few weeks.
My inclination would be to treat myself to a new hard drive - or a new computer. XP needs more resources, and may prove a bit slow on an old machine.
