"Give me an example of a time you had to go outside SOPs to get the job done."
I have heard variations of this one being asked around the traps, one being "Give me an example of a time you had to go outside SOPs" by itself.
Just wondering what an interviewer is thinking when they ask it.
One case being, Yes, I broke an SOP to do something could mean:
-ve: Disregard for operating procedures / Cowboy attitude
+ve: Did it to avoid a crash as SOP's didn't cover the scenario
Other case being, No, Never break SOPs
+ve: Good pilot, follow the manual
-ve: Can't think outside the box / think on your feet. Blindly follow whats written.
What do you reckon??
