Firstly, a large percentage of the public - you never know when you might need one!
Secondly, the MOD media machine - they certainly give a !!!!!
Why are they "heroes"? For doing their job? Or perceived as heroes by their peers? Brave men and women arguably. But heroes...?
Fair point but I don't know of
ANY SAR crews who see themselves as heroes.
