As I have just mentioned on the A & A forum, I can't see the excitement of going on a Long Haul flight.

To sit 8 hours or more on a flight surrounded by 'potential' idiotic pax is not my idea of a holiday.

As much as I have always loved travelling & flying, I have always preffered to land after 4 + hours in the Canary Islands.

Obviously this is just my preference, But it is basic common sense that Long Haul destinations only offer just as much as short haul destinations offer, Ie sun sea scenery etc.

You can be in ALC PMI or AGP in less than 3 hours and on the beach in 4 hours.

So my question is do you have to travel all those hours & miles just for a holiday??

Is it the title 'Long Haul' or are people 'kidding' themselves into thinking they are getting more than what they would get in a European Resort.

At the end of the day - A beach is a beach, A bar is a bar, And last of all a bed is a bed no matter where you are.

I'm happy travelling to Europe.

I just don't see the appeal of Long Haul
If you don't like it, then that's 1 less person vying for my job!

I don't like short haul! I don't want to have to worry about spilling Martinis for 4 or 5 sets of SLF every day. I don't want to go to the same hotel every night -- especially if it's just another Motel 6 or Holiday Inn.

I can get to the beach on Guam or Oahu or Bondi (Sydney) -- just not quite as often as you might in the Canaries.

I can also get to the markets in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul, and Dubai -- just not as often as you can get to the beach in the Canaries.

I can also visit relatives in Los Angeles and Taipei -- just not as often as you can get to the beach in the Canaries.

I can also see the sights of Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Istanbul, Delhi, Entebbe, and Miami -- just not as often as you can get to the beach in the Canaries.

Yep -- life's [not just] a beach!
