I fly long haul, and you're right. It isn't exciting. Of course, I've never been to a beach during my travels, and it's often airport to the hotel to the airport, again. Typical legs are minimum 6 hours, but often eight or more. The appeal? Someone pays me to do it. No, it's not exciting. Nor do I want it to be. However, having done a fairly wide variety of different types of flying, I can't complain. I get two weeks off when I get done with a trip (which lasts seventeen days straight), which is two weeks without having to report to anyone. I have the chance to get up and stretch during a flight, which isn't something I used to be able to do in a cramped, hot cockpit with 18 landings a day. Now it's one takeoff, one landing, and there are a lot of advantages and plus's to job. Excitement isn't one of them, but that's not a bad thing.
