Red face 380 v Sonic Cruiser. What if....?

Here's a thought.

The only major airframe manufacturers left, are both essentially betting their companies on very different products. Maybe there is room in the marketplace for both the 380 and the Sonic Cruiser, in which case of course all of us pilots will be happy.

But, what if they both get it wrong? Maybe there is a really bad recession, a war in the middle east, a trade (or shooting) was between China and the US, who knows? A lot can go wrong, look at the Nadaq. There is a very real chance that both Boeing and Airbus could wind up overextended and even go bankrupt. Their governments will of course bail them out, but even that will leave both companies gasping for air.

We may well be flying the 1990s crop of airliners for a very long time. And with Lockheed in good shape, those 1011s of the Guv's will be worth a fortune!
