Dead pilot wasn’t ours: North Coast
NORTH Coast Aviation yesterday said the pilot killed in a plane crash in Central province last Thursday was not one of its employees.
North Coast chief pilot Jeff Thiele said the deceased, Chris Kens, was a former employee and had, on occasions, gained unauthorised access to the company’s airport shed.
The National yesterday reported that Kens was a pilot with North Coast Aviation.
Air safety regulations of the Department of Transport had indicated last Friday that the deceased had flown under the logo of North Coast Aviation.
Kens crashed near Lake Myola while approaching Kokoda Track in inland Koiari.
The survivors’ identities are still unknown.
Reports said Kens was flying a private plane, a Cessna 206. The plane was returning to Port Moresby from Yongi in Goilala when it crashed.
