I'm involved with a small RPT carrier operation - should I be worried about a strike or any other kind of industrial action over all this. Would be good to have some advanced notice if there's something on the horizon
Our agreement expires on 21 December.
AFAIK, If Industrial were to occur, not suggesting it will, it couldn't happen before 25 December 2008. It's the law to give 3 full days notice (to initiate a bargaining period). Also a requirement to have a vote of the members to endorse the action (not sure if the vote can happen before the bargaining period is initiated.); so more than likely the first industrial action would be early 2009.
