The alternative if the high court outcome goes against the airport an application to replace the temporary terminal with a permanent terminal of the same capacity
This is surely where coventry should be concentrating their efforts: consolidating what they have and trying to use its capacity, and making it pay. I suspect they would nt have a problem getting permission to replace the tempory terminal with something similar and permanent. And this option wouldnt cost a fortune.
However, always swimming against the tide and trying to get permission for the 2 million pax terminal thats already been refused and possibly would never get used, is costing them one hell of a lot of time and money, and has apparantly caused them to take the eye off the ball - their existing customers are slipping away
Question is, can the airport, limited at 1 million pax, ever pay its way, or is there some critical level of throughput at which it becomes economic? Id be surprised if that magic level just happened to be between 1 and 2 million. Possibly 2 million throughput will just allow them to lose more money, and the whole planing permission thing is a side issue to the main problem: the airport never has made anyone any money..
