Citations into the rough
I had the pleasure of being medical crew on two specific Citations in Sub-Saharan Africa hauling patients from some of the most unhappy places on that continent to South Africa.
We regularly did the gravel and grass strip thing with those aircraft, some interesting flights, one that comes to mind immediately was arriving at a 1000m dirt strip in Eastern Malawi at sunset to fetch three patients (two of them were kiddies), spending about an hour stabilising them, and then taking off after sunset with cars strategically placed down the side of the runway. After some coaching from one of the pilots, the taxi was done behind one of the locals riding a motorbike down the taxiway to show us the centre of the 'taxiway'...
Had our hands full with the patients in the back, it would have made for good pics if we had the time to do so...
