Good point Driscoll, thanks for reminding me. To clarify for our readers, this is a
seperate group of controllers from the promoted ALM's who were told to go and cross-train on new airspace to enable SDE - since there are only so many hours in the day, they could not maintain recency on their old airspace, so there were even less qualified staff to fill any absences. Something which was pointed out to proponents of SDE prior to the event, BTW.
