I would stay away from Paisley as well... I study there and it's not the nicest of places. Very little to do as well, Braehead shopping centre stole most of it's business.
If it were me, I would probably move to somewhere like Glasgow. Glasgow's new houses and apartments are really nice, expensive but nice. There is also East Kilbride that's only 30mins down the road on the M77 as well.
For gliding, Strathaven no longer do gliding. Only microlights and some light aircraft .
