I remember him clearly during the General Election campaign of 1977 and how he helped Fianna Fail get to a landslide victory with election promises like the abolition of rates etc. On today's 1 pm news on Radio 1 they even rolled out MO'L himself to heap praise in memory of the late Mr Brennan on how he was willing as Minister for Transport to take on the all powerful unions at Dublin Airport and that he played a part in getting EI off the Dublin Stansted route leaving it to FR to reap the reward.
Oh how I laughed at the delicious irony of Mick O'Leary of eulogising Seamus Brennan for saving Ryanair from the dastardly Aer Lingus's attempt to drive them out of business. Mick so easily ignores his OWN airlines monopolistic tendencies such as, adding 3 flights a day with tens of thousands of free/below cost seats on the Cork-Gatwick route to drive out Easyjet. And then of course he reduces the Cork Gatwick route back to one a day.
