Ah, there but for the grace of the deity go any of us.
I recall, back in the days when we weren't scared of our shadows, having a jump seat ride from CNS to SYD in a QF 747. It was the crew's first domestic service,
ever, with QF and after landing on 34R, at night, they took an incorrect taxiway (lots and lots of taxiway works) and had to get a wing walker and follow me car to ensure missing the Ansett finger (bay 17 I think from memory).
Addendum: Oops, sorry 'bout that, should read 34L. I'll leave it as it stands so as to not render subsequent posts meaningless.
Must learn to remember that Left is the one with the watch!
