My first aircrew watch was a rather nice but basic wind-up Omega, which would probably be worth a few bob nowadays. Having recently traded in a fairly snazzy Seiko, because its battery was flat and I couldn't get it replaced (well, I had actually done it myself until I wrecked the seal), I now have a utilitarian Pulsar. I see this exact same watch is on offer in today's Telegraph for £39.99. Quite a bargain, really, and as it keeps good time and has the functions I actually need to help me fly, I'm glad I haven't been tempted by those beatiful Breitlings.
