Don't call them Apron Controllers, Marshallers or whatever, they get very upset. They are Airside Operations Personnel.
I am sure the fantastic, dedicated, hard working team of Apron Control Officers at my local airport are proud to be called by their official title. I certainly have never heard any complaints!
