As far as I know you may directly transfer your licences if you have more then 1500h on your commercial ticket. At any case, there shouldn’t be too much hassle for you. Do bare in mind though that no matter what agency you’re dealing with, be it FAA, CAA or JAA, they're all the same around the world and would probably give you about the same attitude anywhere.
