SO in this case is just a technical term (
afaik anyway). The cadet will be performing all the duties of an FO, they'll just be getting paid a lower salary! I'm not sure that this is accurate, but I'm sure I read somewhere that cadets taken on by EZY, TCX etc. are actually classed as SOs for the first six months with their airline. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
