thanks for all your help and pointers everyone. I realise there is much much more to helicopters than offshore work. But I had my heart set on that, and I was kind of hoping that when I finally got to the point where I was employable (after training, hours building and other experience etc) I could offer a good few years of sevice to whoever took me on. It would probably be my last job and so my employer would have got around 13-14 years out of me. I also appreciate there are medical certification issues with age, but I think I'm OK on the eyesight front and co-ordination etc. Anyway, I'll crack on and see what happens and change course accordingly.
