3.3. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS :

AS FAR AS SEALANT APPLICATION IS CONCERNED, THE FOLLOWING
ACTIONS HAVE BEEN LAUNCHED TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A SIMILAR
LEAK :

THE SEALANT APPLICATION PROCESS REQUIRES THAT THE DIFFERENT
STEPS - ESPECIALLY THE CORRECT SURFACE CLEANING - ARE
PROPERLY APPLIED. A REVIEW OF THIS PROCESS HAS BEEN PERFORMED
ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE AND RESULTING PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS HAVE
BEEN DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED STARTING MSN 648 FOR THE A320,
MSN 666 FOR THE A321 AND MSN 670 FOR A319.

WITH RESPECT TO THE FUEL LEAK IN THE CABIN, THE TSM WILL BE
UPDATED WITH THE JULY 1998 REVISION IN ORDER TO REFLECT A
TASK RELATED TO FUEL SMELLS IN THE CABIN, IN ATA CHAPTER 28
CREW OBSERVATIONS.

THIS TASK WILL REQUEST INSPECTION OF THE LH AND RH RIB 1 AT
ITS CONNECTION WITH FRAME 36 FOR FUEL LEAK IN THE EVENT OF
FUEL SMELLS IN THE CABIN.

IF A FUEL LEAK IS DETECTED, THE TSM WILL PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS
FOR A FERRY FLIGHT AS WELL AS FOR TEMPORARY AND FINAL REPAIRS
AS PER SIL 57-086.

THE TEMPORARY REPAIR AS PER THE SIL PART A, PARAGRAPH 1, WILL
BE LIMITED T0 50 FLIGHT HOURS.

THE FINAL REPAIR WILL BE PERFORMED AS PER REPAIR INSTRUCTION
R57112107 WHICH WILL BE INCORPORATED IN THE SIL 57-086 VIA
REVISION 3 TO BE ISSUED IN MAY 1998.
