68-9/11 here. Twas a Yellow Hat until the Company First Shirt did the "I need twelve volunteers....you, you, you, .....and you!" routine as we were preparing to board the bus for Flight Training Day One in Hillers. We got held over for two weeks and became Orange Hats.....which turned out to be a better deal.
"Big Orange" left an impression on authority figures from Fort Wolters to Hunter AAF and Fort Stewart.
Have a possible chance to return to RVN in October with JPAC on a search for four 173rd Airborne MIA's from the '67 fight for Hill 875 (Dak To area), and Lester Hansen, one of my classmates who is still MIA.
