I think the only ones who moved from EK to EY were those that failed their upgrade. I remember many that didn't make it through the EK interview went up to EY for the job. Worked out well for a quick upgrade...
Accomodation is a real problem in the entire region and airlines need to make it priority one. Those coming over should be very specific about what is offered...
