Exclamation Fuel, the dreaded Lurgy.

Hello all. All pilots that is. Wannabe pilots (people who would have loved to become a pilot but didn’t for whatever reason) and office workers/damagers etc, this is not for you, especially the covert operators(cowards) amongst you mainly good folks!
Does anyone know of a thread here on Prune or elsewhere where fuel saving/use is being thrashed out by pilots?
I am interested because we all know standards are set for safety etc. But how many of these standards are truly accurate? Are these standards all necessary? When last were these standards re-visited to see if they are absolutely necessary under what conditions?
As pilots, we could engage in think-tanks about fuel usage.
With many of the current types of modern aeroplanes being flown, are the current fuel requirements appropriate?
Most of us (certainly not all) assume the fuel we take to be good because it is given on the route log as such. A lot of us even add a few drops….. for Granny etc.
Oh and lastly, please, the Heroes amongst you…….We all are threatened by the rising fuel price! I wish to start a debate, not a “What do you know, and what do you think we’ve been doing for the last X years?”
Thanks all.
