XP floating toolbar
Probably a bit slow here but having been irritated by the little floating toolbar which pops up when the mouse arrow is positioned over an active area I've finally noticed that, on the left, is an option to tick:
'Hold [ctrl] to show the floating toolbar'
Duh!
