What do you want in the way of security? A suite? Standalone applications? Firewall? Behavior blocker?
Using XP?
Were you using a paid AVG AV, or suite? And how secure do you need it to be? (ie: do you use it for banking etc)
I've got a reasonably secure setup using just freeware applications. Scan with one or two highly rated demand scanners now and then, as a check. They never find a thing.
The combo is Avast Home, Threatfire, and an older version of Comodo Firewall, combined with the MVPS hosts file, Firefox with noscript and adblock+, and the Secunia PSI for keeping everything updated.
Demand scanners include Superantispyware, MBAM, and Asquared.
I use it for everything, CC and banking included.
