Ferrovial announce possible sale process for George Best Belfast City Airport (BCA)
As has been the subject of much media speculation over the last number of weeks, Ferrovial (100% shareholder of Belfast City Airport) has announced today that it is to begin a process, which may result in a sale of its BCA interests by the end of 2008.
Ferrovial have been pleased with the performance of the airport under their ownership since 2003 but in light of current strategic objectives within the Group, Ferrovial have decided to consider disposing of the Belfast City Airport asset.
It is anticipated that any change in ownership would not have any impact on the operational function or development plans for the airport as any owner – current or new – would want to grow the asset.
We shall provide all partners with a further update once the process has closed and potentially a new owner is announced. However, we would not anticipate this being announced until Q4 of this year.
