did try and fix it, that's the problem, he tried to fix it the wrong way by flailing around with the controls instead of holding a constant attitude.
When you get "behind" the aircraft (ie, responding in phase with the aircraft) then each successive bounce is worse than the one before it until either the wheel comes off or you finally run out of energy.
If you watch the video closely, you can see how the pilot was caught by surprise, pushed the column forward and wheel barrow'ed it, then each bounce gets progressively worse until the nose collapsed on his final mighty leap.
I'd be happy to demonstrate if anyone has a free C172 they don't really need to use again.
