I do not know what the Metro II weighs but the Metro III weighs-in at 6577kg MTOW for the "light" version and 6804kg for the "heavy" version. I have never flown a Metro 23 but understand the MTOW to be around the 7257kg mark.

So Wiz yer weren't wrong - just not quite on the money this time?

I think some of you might be jumping at shadows - RPT above 5700kg requires an ATPL to act in the capacity as the PIC, however there is no requirement to hold an ATPL to log ICUS to gain the requisite hours in the multi column to satisfy the CASA requirements to eventually upgrade - as long as the hours being flown are recorded as such in either the Trip/Deck log and both pilots' log books and they are operating under direction of the Chief Pilot and within the parameters of the Operations Manual. It is that simple.

Though to add fuel to the fire - CASA has never filed a difference to ICAO on this one so they have effectively left themselves wide open to any operation that wishes to challenge CASA's stance on this issue...... anyone taking notes....

We all are well aware that there are some in this industry who would have their colleagues believe that they are "legally" operating as the PIC (and some are even silly enough to enter these hours as PIC in their logbook) when in fact they are not.

The less said about them the better....

Munt: The latest I am aware of is around $8-9K, but I guess that most operators have to fly and accommodate their aircrews in Melbourne for the "almost" three week event at the SIM center.
