I am hoping to travel with SJ on Tuesday to Newark, any advice, should i make other arrangements? or will they last another week? i sincerly hope so, not just for my sake but all concerned.

If you have booked with a credit card and not a DEBIT card you are safe...
If they are still going next week, still use your ticket, but take additional funds to get yourself home incase the worst happens while away... Other airlines will come to the rescue and offer discounted seats.
Not many travel insurance policies cover these kind of eventualities...
