A guy I used to know who flew C130s for the UN said they can use a bit of reverse to steepen the descent. Sounds like it would drop like a grand piano.
I bet they did! I bet it did wonders for the wing root fatigue problem common to Hercs. Same for the C-17, a great technique-unless you want to keep using the aircraft!
